I had a short flight around the neighborhood with a FLIR ONE attached to my Phantom 3 Pro. It looks maybe not very impressive to you, but for my usecase i'm more than happy with the result.

unfortunately i had to attach a Samsung S5 in addition to the standard camera, which was a bit a pain...but i'm working on it :)

SB can you show us your setup? I've very interested to see how you did it.

the setup was not very professional and has been already removed. I have used a phone holder for cars but it was unstable. Now i've ordered a micro-USB extention cable which hopefuly will allow me to place the camera somewhere else and not on the side of the phantom. It would be great to place the camera FLIR module directly at the gimbal. At the I hope that it will be possible to merge both videos (FLIR) and 4K from the standard camera into one video. this would add much more context and contrast...
Well, I have currently an issue with the Gimbal but thats another story.

Ok. Here we go. It's still not the mother of all thermal drones, but it works fine now.

no, i was not able to get a live stream from the thermal cam with the current setup, but that wasn't the goal anyway. The camera is the FLIR ONE, it costs approx. 250 $. There are some APPS available which will turn the FLIR CAM into a webcam, therefore there should be a way to get a also a thermal live stream. The other possibility would be to film the screen of the attached mobile phone with the default cam [emoji3] not very sophisticated but it should work.

The camera itself was worth the money for its own. very fast charged (<30 min) and the battery lasts for 60 min. (it is not USB powered).

I wonder if you could just mirror the screen from the Samsung phone/tablet and have a phone/tablet on the ground so you can see. I know some people have done something similar with other apps. This could be a cheaper solution than spending 2000-5000 to get one mounted to your phantom.

some pictures from the cam; a glass of water filled with ice cubes beside a candle (with various filter options):

That's pretty cool! I definitely wanna see what it looks like with a drone in the air looking down.

just checked the screen mirroring with teamviewer. I've had some trouble to connect from phone to phone but phone to notebook worked perfect without any delays. Means I have a live cam now. Thanks a lot :)

Great idea! I have one as well, but for iOS, so I don't know that I can find an extension cable. Looks like I have a use for that old iPhone after all!

Beat me to it i have this on my todo list.. i have the ios version so thinking of using a spare 5S... one day will get around to it..

Contemplating on using my iPhone with the flir attached and using my iPad as my phantom controller. I'd like to be able to mirror the screen to a pc from a distance away but not sure how to achieve that.
