Finally got a first flight in today! I will preface this by saying this is basically the first RC item I've ever used. I watched a guy at a reggae festival that had one and bought mine within a week. Talk about a nervous first flight, I felt in advance stages of Parkinson's. Read the manual for a week, watched videos for 3 weeks then today I couldn't wait any longer. Precheck, gps, everything checked out. Up and away! Immediately I knew I was in love. Not enough to rename it a girls name as my friend with a jeep has but enough to be extremely happy with my pricey purchase. I did my flight maneuvers learned tons and didn't take any chances. About the time I was putting it away a local cop canine unit pulled up, I was in a safe vacant lot area. He asked what we were doing and asked to see. After showing him, he wanted to see it fly, I was a little short on battery but ya know trying to be cordial I took it up again. I predict the officer will have one before the month is out. He was a kid in the candy store. Amazing first flight! Cheers!

LOL! That's pretty much how I was too with my first flight and second actually.

Congrats though and safe and careful flying.

Good for you! They're great fun.... No idea how much juice you had left in the battery sending it up again for the police officer, but that could have ended in tears! Always start a new flight with a fully charged battery.

    Have fun!

Congrats on your first flight and you dodged your first bullet. Meaning - usually when you go to show someone your Phantom it crashes. If you read some of the crash threads - one common denominator is usually - "I was showing it to a couple of mates when ..." Stay concious when showing others your new toy.

Thanks for the good advice! I had 15% in the battery but your right! Next time I will send him packing haha. I have read those threads about showing it to your mates, it was in my mind the whole 3 minutes I gave him. 2nd and 3rd in the books. Scared myself once but it was pilot error and brought it back from out of sight. Whew

Congrats on your first flight and the beginning of your new love affair.
Sounds like you took your time reading up and not rushing in blind.
