I just put on iosd mini and got 1 flight in with it today. I searched but did not find an answer. When you fire up the phantom and leave it go thru its startup stuff, is this the point of reference for the height and distance reading on my monitor? Or is it measuring it thru the radio control unit some how as you are flying farther away? I am guessing it is the launch site gps, but I just wanted to make sure.

Orientation point is set when you get GPS and homelock on startup.

If you manually change homelock in flight, that will be the new "zero"

It is the height and distance from the take off point, and the angle to it. In addition you will get a navigation diamond to take you back there assuming all the pre flight checks went OK.
