I looked around the forum but couldn't find any thing about shooting video of sunsets just stills.

I've been having a problem that if the camera is set to see the horizon the color of the sky "washes out" and the ground is underexposed. If I tilt the camera down the ground exposure is improved. I know it's a difficult subject. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Here's a video example.

With more sophisticated software like adobe premiere you can improve things quite a bit with some of the filters, e.g. shadow/highlight or even just reduce the contrast slightly.

It's a problem with all cameras and in fact the vision+ doesn't do too badly maintaining some detail in both the bright sky and dark land.
With more serious cameras you could do a wonderful job with a Neutral Density Graduated glass filter, this is unlikely to ever be a realistic option for the V+
