no matter what in direct sunlight your going to struggle on a phone
This is why ive gone to a ipad air with antiglare screen and a home made screen cover works great

the ipad sunscreen is just a plastic folder cut to shape and Velcro on back of folder and ipad holder
this works great and is so nice to have the large view
I did add a strap connection on front of controller to balance it out so no hands are needed

i had a box that was about an inch longer than that. but it was not long enough. with the sun shining i can see my face reflecting off my galaxy s3 as clear as a mirror. the only way to avoid that was close the end and to put "an eye whole" in it. That worked perfectly but it was too short (about 6 inches). I noticed i was flying with the controller 6 inches from my face. so i made another one that is 12 inches long with a better "eye whole". its the same length as my neck strap allows me to be away from my controller. it works so perfect i want to reenforce it with thin wood.
