Anyone have any experience or thoughts on flying P3S from a steel sailboat? Buddy has a 45'er he wants some videos from.
Or is that idea DOA?

Do you mean aluminum?

It's my understanding that when your around only magnetic metal that it will throw the compass off. My bird always detects the interference when its around it so it has saved me from launching around it. I'm not sure if I would calibrate it on the boat though

Welded steel sailboat with all accompanying outfitting on board. Masts, radar, engine, genset, etc. I'm thinking I'll get the normal severe interference detected warning for the RC before I even turn the bird on. Just wondering if anyone has tried this before. Not sure I want to be a lead the fleet type of guy on this? I've seen a lot of vids from fiberglass sail and powerboats. Doesn't seem to be a problem there. Then my next attempt would be from an airboat if it survives the sailboat.
