I did that but it seems a little tipsy. I'm thinking of a dowel and zip ties will stabilize it without altering the drone but I'm only worried about Field of View on the camera.

I use bamboo skewers, small zip ties and a couple of wraps of electrical tape. Works great to prevent tip-overs.

The only problem with using landing gear extensions is the Phantom will no longer fit into a case if you use one.

True. I think I am going to design some sort of snap on or removable system for it.

That video is misleading in the fact he says he didn't calibrate the compass as with GPS it knows where is or something to that effect.
