Nice set up! How do you go keeping orientation?

I like the look of the transmitter too, nice job with the pitch control, looks almost like its a factory placed knob

The orange one is a stock Phantom with Gopro 2 on isolation mount, FPV system with TS58500 5.8G transmitter and RC805 receiver, Carbon fiber props and yes... prop guards. Say what you want, I like flying in tight to trees and other objects and they have kept me out of trouble many times. The paint is bright orange to help locate it if it goes down in the woods, which it has before and was easily spotted. I also use a remote control beeper to help when I'm within 100 feet or so. I already lost one Phantom and basic white is extremely hard to see in a wooded area when the sun shines.

I just finished restoring a melted Phantom that I got on E-Bay, the guy tried to dry it out after it took a water dive and put it in an oven on low. He turned off the oven then left it there when someone decided to make breakfast. They turned it on to 350 degrees and melted it. I replaced the motor bearings, shell, compass, landing gear and controller with a Naza M-Lite. I'm going to upgrade the props still, but it's not a bad little flier.

Looking great mate! Loving the black and red combo. Hows the undertray hold up with the extra cutout of the the dampener?

Thanks D3wey, your designs are great. It's totally stable. I did use the plastic stand offs with the same screws. As long as you don't over tighten them, you'll have no issues. The cut out was easy. Just an exacto knife and patience!

How, can you show how you got there 2 batteries?

To be more specific, I used an XT60 split cable inside. The red external tray is for the second battery. She rides a little heavy at low altitude but I get a solid 10 minutes.

You use a standard 2200 mAh battery?

One inside and one outside. I had always seeking the perfect setup for my Phantom, who now weighs about 1200 grams.

I ordered these CF wings for external battery installation that will hopefully compatible with my configuration.
There I could use a larger capacity, of course, with respect to the total weight.

Yep, they are 2200 30C 3cells. One inside and one in the cage outside. I also have another undercarriage that I havent tested yet from Maikels but Im waiting for some carbon fiber from China...You know how that goes.. It has a similiar outside side carriage to your link. The only benefit I can see to that is I can put a small 500-100 mAh LIPO inside to power just the TX and LED..

I havent weighed my phantom but I've done the math a few times and I should be under 1300g .

I find the best dual batt setup with my kit is to use a stock (or equiv dimensioned) 2200mah in the cage under the body and then squeeze a NanoTech 2250mah into the Phantom. A tight fit but if you mod the battery door it works (which you have to for any dual batt setup generally). This gives me 12mins flight in light winds (that is useful flight time, not just static hovering) before the first red lights appear and 14mins before the cell warning buzzers go off. Total weight 1250g (although I have flown with a 75g GTU10 added too) and had no issues.

I think those CF shoulders aren't a bad way to do dual batt (clever and simple design) but personally I'd want a couple of my batt cages or some kind of stopper to secure them (so they don't slide forward/back out of the velcro straps). You'd need to have matching weight batts too so as not to mess up the balance down the centre line.

So many ways to do the same thing though which is whats fun. Trying and testing!

That makes sense. Would you consider at some point making a 3000-5000mAh cage?

Yeah not too much trouble at all now I have the base design. Just need to know what the battery dimensions are and a picture of that battery itself and it wouldn't take much work.
5000mah is gonna be one weighty 'mo fo' though on a Phantom. Quick look at Hobbyking:

2200mah 3s - 105 x 33 x 24mm - 188g
5000mah 3s - 146 x 50 x 25mm - 412g

True, but consider 2x 2200 = 376g , so not much difference especially if you 86 the Gopro.
