Hi Guys,
The wind has finally dropped after three weeks of gales & frustration of not having good conditions to fly my new Phantom, managed to get some footage close to my house before the gales resumed!
Filmed using GoPro Hero and a £30 damped pivot gimbal.
I would appreciate any thoughts on why a brushless gimbal would be much better than a damped pivot gimbal. I have spoken to a few engineer mates and the consensus is that gravity works just as well as electronics and motors!!!

nice! although i do hate how Youtube desaturates the video. i have no doubt the autumnal colours were more vibrant in the raw footage

The footage looks good. Was it easy to mount on the Phantom?

Studiowise...thanks for the comment. You are right, on YouTube the video lost some vibrancy in the colours and video was also jerky. Whilst uploading it said there were some sync issues. Never had that message before.
Flycatchers....The gimbal came with a camera mount kit which I had to modify slightly. Two holes drilled to mount the plate to the Phantom and cut down the frame a bit to get it to fit within the height of the undercarriage. http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/products_damping_pivot_camera_mount_70031003-p-19658.html I used a cut up 4mm wetsuit to make a 'gasket' to stop jello. There's certainly no jello visible. The gimbal seems to work ok but it's hard to be subjective.
On another forum I've got a debate going about pivots and brushless active gimbals. I got a link to a £40 gimbal from China, which looks like it performs really well...probably better than a damped pivot.
