I've been photographing ships for quite a while but haven't been able to use the Phantom until very recently.
Ship photos with a regular camera are OK but they usually just show the sides of the hull and give little detail of the deck.
This last week I was lucky enough to visit a place where access to ships was a lot easier than where I live and I got to fly several missions.
Photos of ships in port are never as interesting as ships under way - it's like photos of captive animals vs wildlife.
Also the advantage of a camera that you can position anywhere is enormous.
On the ground the photographer sometimes has to give up because he's looking into the sun but with a P3 .. just zip around to the other side and shoot with the sun rather than against it.
And the ability to put your camera in places that were impossible is fabulous.
Anyway here are a couple of the pics I shot this week. They make my old ship photos look pretty bland.
