NTSC = Never Twice the Same Color
PAL = Practically All Lousy



NTSC and PAL are the two main video standards in use. Generally PAL us Eu and most of Asia and North America and part of South America is NTSC. There is also SECAM (mainly USSR) but its in the minority.

You should check the standards for wherever you are. If you are in the US, then NTSC is the standard. Most of the time, if the power frequency (wall outlets) is 60hz then NTSC is used, when its 50hz then PAL is used. Holds true most of the time, like everything, there are exceptions.
