Rubber/eraser icon on go app question?

I have been wondering what the eraser/rubber icon on the bottom right hand side of the map screen is for? I have searched for the answer but cant seem to find it anywhere, which makes me even more curious.

You can draw a line on the map and the eraser clears the line

Whilst flying you will see your track on the map, like a snail trail, eventually the map will look like a bowl of spaghetti, just press the erasure button and ding the map is clear of the tracks.
