RIT Dye

Here's a combo that I did. I used cherry red and pearl grey. The grey, if you use too much dye, end up super dark. Almost navy blue. Then I redid the grey lighter and lighter. I was going for Buckeye colors. OH!

dylon powder works well too. i mixed two yellow and 1 red for orange (local fabric store here in Panamá didnt have orange).

6cups BOILING water and 3 tbs of salt... leave submerged for 30min! minimum!

it looks VERY red in pan... but result is a very nice orange.

i did a full set and use two to indicate direction (orange props forward)

Here's my attempt at dying my props. I wish they came out a little darker. But they match the color I picked out. I used the liquid Rit and only used about 4 table spoons and 4 cups of water. Heated the water to 90 Celsius and put the props in for about 25 minutes.
Just so happens this is exactly what I bought to try. Does the water have to be that hot 194F? Almost seems that temp could cause warping on the props. Thought I read that 140F was the temp to go with.

Just tried dying my props. I'm very happy with the royal purple and racing red. I tried yellow and used the whole bottle (rather than just a few teaspoons) and those just turned out looking like sun-yellowed plastic.
