Return Home Hardware Button Capabilities

I posted this question in the dji forum but got no replies so I'm betting you guys will know.

Been wondering: Does the Return Home Hardware Button on the Remote over-ride all software running at the time in DJI Go or other app. In other words if the hardware button is pushed will the phantom3 RTH no matter what? I think the answer is yes but would be happy to hear from you too

the answer is yes. and it's not just "pressed", it's "held down for 3 seconds"

The answer is yes. It will return home based on the fail safe height you have entered. You always want to make sure the amount set is higher then everything in your flight zone. It needs checked because the default number is likely to not clear everything. This is also the time to set how you want fail safe to respond if activated. As in, fly home, or land from it's current location. Btw, if the fail safe is activated due to a battery issue, it will only land at that time and not fly home.
