Retractable landing gear?

I saw a fellow flying his P3 and he retracted the landing gear. Since the gimbal doesn't rotate 360, what's the purpose? Why go through the effort and expense of that modification. Seems like a waste to me. Am I wrong and why?

This hobby attracts many people. Some like to mod while others don't or can't.
The mod solves no known problems and does add weight, etc. but in addition to the sense of accomplishment it does look cool.
Not all are concerned about range, flight times, or other performance tweaks.

I agree. It's a 'bling' mod imo. I feel there are more meaningful mods that you could do with that money because the gear is They are very expensive.

Too each there own though.
