If I replace the sim card in my camera do I need to update the firmware? Or will it update when I connect the phone and aircraft? When I replaced the card with a new blank it told me that it could not do anything on an empty card????

You do not need to update the firmware after replacing the memory card.

What is the exact message you're seeing?

It's not a SIM card, by the way, it's a microSD memory card.

First thing to do is to reformat thecSD card using the app. That will set up the directory, partitions and pointers the way that your bird uses them.
