I use rechargeables in my controller, but at 1.2 volts, should I use 1.5 volt non rechargeable?
I get a very good range, but occasional RTH due to no signal.

Battery voltage is regulated internally to about 3.3vdc.

So long as you are not getting Low Battery indication from the controller you are fine.

There is NO impact on range or performance short of the warning mentioned.

Outside temperatures and humidity play a part in how much range we get. Some days are better than others. If you've had your quad for a while sometimes making mods to the antennas give you a lot better distance. I changed my antenna out for a DBS Itelite and tripled my range. They come with all the connectors and wiring need to make the mod. There are you tube videos that show how to do the job too.
Antennas are distance the battery provides the times.
