It is a flat panel antenna that you install on your transmitter. It comes highly recommended. It can be purchased from www.maxxuav.com.

What would you recommend for the Phantom 3 standard for field mapping using drone deploy. I don't want to lose signal while it's out in a big corn field

As long as you keep the controller pointed at the drone DBS mod will be best. But doesn't DroneDeploy do it all on its own, no signal required?

I didn't have the stock antennas long but I'd imagine if over a field with no obstructions the stock antennas would be fine or maybe just add a windsurfer.
