Radio Change for better range

So,I have bought a Turnigy 9xr and FR Sky djt set-up. I wanted to try to change-up after a couple people showed the reciever on the Phantom, its so tiny, how can I make this better? I noticed the Futaba guys just plug the Sbus wire into the rx. Problem is, I dont have that wire connector on my rx. how do hook this RX up to my Phantom? Igot out of RC when Spektrum just hit the scene, so I'm not at all familiar with the 2.4Ghz stuff yet. Any help would be appreciated, thanx in advance.

I am having a telemtry pack installed into my Phantom, and that requires a multi channel Tx. Buzzflier in the UK are fitting it and they supply a Devo 10 channel unit as part of the upgrade. I will report back when it is working and see if I can give you any useful intel on how it was set up, it wont be that much different than your pack I am sure.
