♦️Question for the smart people here.

Is the president of the USA banned from flying a drone?

Anywhere the president goes, the president is in the middle of a no-fly zone. If the president moves to a different location, the no-fly zone moves with them.

So, technically, the president of the United States could not legally fly a drone, correct?

Specific aircraft can be cleared to operate in TFRs. This has happened for drones as well (e.g. Standing Rock).

Let's keep this topic on track and NOT make it political, as tempting as it may be for some of us.

As ianwood mentioned aircraft (including UAS) can be, and HAVE been cleared to fly inside of TFR's.

If you think about it he could just go to any Air Force base that has a reaper drone operation and fly the big boy stuff.

As already mentioned, there's no such thing as an NFZ. The president has a TFR that follows him and the "owner" of the TFR is allowed to clear aircraft at their discretion. So, yes, he can fly in a plane and he can fly a drone.

Finally a really accurate answer.

Kind of like the question George Carlin asked years ago: "Can God Make A ROCK So Big, that He himself can't lift it."??

Someone should mention it to the White House! I'll bet The Prez would enjoy flying them and it just might help in his understanding about our Hobby Drones. Let him fly a drone over one of his Golf Courses, he'd get a kick out it!

So... What is the 15 mile area around National Airport in DC called? Everyone refers to it as a NFZ, the fly maps say same. Same thing with Camp David.

The president of the US is immune to federal lawsuits while acting as president, so yes he could fly a drone anywhere as long as it's in a presidential capacity. If he hits a civilian though he could be liable and be sued in civil court for damages
