I was really concerned about this shoot this morning. One or the other would have had me on my toes, but big high voltage distribution lines AND two cell phone towers in tandem. And, the wind was gusting from the shoot area towards the "obstacles". A loss of GPS and it was going to quickly drift right into the hazard. I'm happy to say the aircraft preformed flawlessly. I closely monitored the GPS signal while my spotter helped me maintain a safe distance from the towers. And, I never exceeded the height of the transmitters on the towers. Is there a proximity that pilots have experience with when dealing with such hazards? 100 feet, 50 feet, more, less?

Cellular towers don't seem to have any effect. I'll do a high-voltage line test next time I am near some.

I'll bet nobody was on their phone at the time.

Looks like the eagles don't mind either.

:)

Mainly, you gotta watch out for microwave antennae on the towers. Cellular shouldn't have any affect. But if you get it into a microwave burst, you're screwed.
