From what I have read, many are having problems with the camera range on the Phantom Vision. I decided to take the range extender off of the transmiter and moved it into another room in the house. I went walked around the house (about a thirty feet radius) and was clearly able to see everything the camera saw on my Ipod.
My guess is that most of us most of us don't move around a whole lot when flying the Vision. So, I would think that line of sight would be improved if we, say, mounted the range finder on something like a painters pole and either stuck in the ground or attached it to something. The higher you get the antenna, the better.
When the weather gets a little better, I will try it.
PS. this does not apply to the transmitter to the Phantom itself, only for the camera.
