I can see pretty good on my galaxy s3 but not good enough. Is there any suggestions. maybe settings i can change or something i can download. trees, and other objects like that that are high up (and i'd like to avoid) i cannot see clearly. The bird already makes everything look closer than it is and when i think I'm flying 20 feet about a tree line I'm actually 80 feet above it.
speaking about tree lines, because everything looks closer than it is, when i approach a tree it's so fuzzy i cannot tell how close i am. not that i want to be very close, i just what to know where i am next to the tree. a clearer picture would give me that info.

Have you tried changing your PREVIEW SETTINGS?

Under app,
Choose ( SETTINGS )
Then ( PREVIEW QUALITY )
There is 4 choices

1) 320x240 15fps ( this is 320 pixels x 240 pixels, broadcast at 15 frames per second ( fps ) ( ok quality ) longer range
2) 320x240 30fps ( this is 320 pixels x 240 pixels, broadcast at 30 frames per second ( better quality slightly less range )
3) 640x480 15fps ( this is 640 pixels x 480 pixels, broadcast at 15 frames per second ( even better quality, even less range )
4) 640x480 30fps ( this is 640 pixels x 480 pixels, broadcast at 30 frames per second ( best quality, least range )

Careful when using setting #4 , if you experience lag, of delay in FPV REDUCE preview setting!

Hope this helps, take care and fly safe!

i meant to check those settings. i assumed that they would have it on the best quality setting out of the box. i'll try them all tomorrow. Do you have any idea what the range loss is on the better quality options?

No,
I sure do not, I have never tested, I'm ising iPhone 4s, and
I preview at 640x480 15fps, if I try ( 640x480 30fps, I get delays in FPV )
Anything lower, bad pic quality! ( again, only my opinion ) ! My setting has worked fine for
Me! I enjoy it immensely!

how far have you gone with 640x480 15fps? and how high did you have to go to get that distance?

Straight up , I got close to 550' lost FPV
Once I went out just over. 800', about 100-150' up.
Could barely visually see the phantom, before FPV signal
Was lost, I had a time where my app messed up, causing a couple
Second camera delay, nearly causing a crash, so I only fly line of sight now!
I've never taken it far enough, to lose Tx signal, only FPV signal.

I am currently modding my phantom with FPVLR ( Stage 2 antennas )
To increase range, with more dependable FPV signal! My goal is to out fly Tx signal
With FPV! I'll feel better about flying out of sight! Orientation is my biggest concern,
If I lose FPV, and orientation, I could possibly fly the wrong way ultimately making things worse?

Also I think the weather plays a part in range as well as location!
If I went out east to the if open fields ( dairy country ) I'm sure I'd get better
Range, there are no cell towers or power lines, ect. Just big open spaces!

20 meters out 640x480 30fps won't work for me at all. maybe I didn't wait long enough. i waited about 45 seconds and my screen remained all green at the top half, static on the bottom half. the i switched to 640x480 15fps and it worked fine. i haven't range tested it yet. I'm want to upgrade so bad but i need to see what this thing can do stock before i can properly test it with a new 6 or 8dbi antenna. People are getting 6400ft stock. thats what i need.

Sorry, I accidentally posted under wrong topic!
Edited it out!
