Was flying my PV this past Sunday (1/26) with a new battery I received in response to some of the "bad battery" issues that were going on last October, November, etc...

Had a few successful flights.. Had the PV hovering over the edge of the water at Mission Bay in San Diego, when the PV seemed to have lost ALL power altogether and just dropped.. I went swimming to retrieve the PV..

I took the battery out of the PV immediately and headed home with my head low.. sad and disappointed. At least I thought I would.. it got worse..

The battery started to smoke and actually burst into flames.. Stopped on the high way to get out and kick the battery out of the car...

Here are the pics.. Contacted both DJI and the vendor I bought it thru.. I'm still waiting for a response, but I'm pretty sure I'm out 1200 dollars. Thanks DJI for the defective PV...

This is why I put everything on my Amex. 2 years no questions asked warranty on purchases and includes accidental loss/damage.

Sounds like you were able to retrieve your uav... Take a look inside the battery and look for loose cables... The same thing happened to me, but over land... It turned out to be a bad solder joint... The black battery cable came loose from the main board... I sent back to B&H for a replacement... They replaced it with no problem, even all beat up...

This is a good idea ... soon as my credit is repaired (ex gf screwed me over) I am going to get an AMEX.

On my Amex card the accidental damage replacement is for 90 days, the extended warranty adds time to the manufacturers warranty period but that doesn't cover accidental damage.
