I was checking if our Phantom Vision 2 plus was going to get any communication issues flying next to a cell tower. Well check this video out to find out the answer.

I thought you were going to land on it at one point
That straight down view is amazing, and probably no-one has ever seen it before so close.

I recently Google Earth-ed the tower near me. I'ts about 1000ft from my flying site.

Never had a problem with my Spektrum -CP helis or my Phantom w/stock radio.

That's one of the reasons I got a P2V+. I sometimes have to verify that there is open line of sight between an existing tower and the location of a temporary tower. Instead of climbing the tower to take a picture I can fly up next to it at the appropriate height and verify that I can see the other location without anything in the way..

    Hahaha.

That's exactly what I was thinking when i was watching this video.

I believe that's cell and microwave... and both the radio and video show no signs of interference.

Really nice video. Which antenna do you think is in the microwave range?

Sweet vid. It would have been really impressive if you did a 360 circle around the tower body keeping view of the tower...maybe next time ;)

    Likely all of them.

The typical classification is 300MHz to 300GHz (opinions vary).

So your Tx antenna is a microwave antenna too.

Really nice video, I suppose the next question is, IF it didn't interfere with your Phantom, I wonder if you upset any of their signals?? Guess we'll never know!
