Phantom Simulator

Hi all, i am new at quadcopter scene. Been lurking through this forum some time now. I finally ordered my P2, so i decided to download the simulator and use my PS3 controller. The big question is: Is heli-x5 similar to the real world in controlling a phantom? because i am really having a hard time getting used to controls. I have flown Rc planes with out trouble, but the phantom in the simulator is giving me a hard time. Is it identical to the real world? easier, harder? Thanks a lot.

I recently came across this thread (thanks Shrimpfarmer!), and have been using this to get my fix while my phantom is grounded for repairs. I happened to have

http://www.amazon.com/6CH-Helicopte...m_sbs_t_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0MPBKH0Z6PMSQ20XJV5N

laying around from a few years ago when I was playing with heli's. I think it was like $20 when I got it. I set it up according the Shrimpfarmers numbers on the first page of this thread and it works very well.

There are two settings that I can toggle between using the top right switch. The more tame of the two is similar to flying in ATTI mode where the craft will drift a bit if you let go of the sticks. I'm assuming the other mode is closer to a Manual mode experience (can't say for sure as I've never tried it on the real thing). A lot hard to maintain position and the stick don't do what you think they would. There is not a mode that I've discovered that compares to GPS mode on the P2V, which is MUCH easier to fly in than the previously mentioned settings.

So bottom line is that this program is "harder" to fly in than what you'd experience in GPS mode out of the box, but that's really not a bad thing. I've also found that after using it for a few days I'm starting to get the hang of it, and since I'm using the same basic controller as the Phantom, hopefully the experience will carry over to real world flying when my craft is fixed! For the price (free-trail + $20 controller), I don't think you can go wrong. Good luck!

I can't say for sure, but I imagine this

might work as well.

Just to let people know I will not be supporting this thread any more as I am getting tired of how disorganised this place has become. The thread will continue at where there is a lot more organisation http://forums.multicopterpilots.com so apologies if I do not answer here.

Just downloaded the demo to give it a try. Not sure I could have gotten it working on my Mac without your post. Thanks!
