Looking to purchase my first Phantom 3 Pro - the issue I have is that where i live there is no retail store - so I am limited to online. Prices seem to be ranging from $500 AUD to $1259 AUD - are there fakes out there - I have sent message to DJI to check if some online stores are authorised resellers but no response.

Big price variance so I am very worried

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time well here.
The DJI website has a map page that lists the dealer locations.
Pick your country and see if anything is close by.
http://www.dji.com/product/phantom/dealer

Otherwise, Amazon.com, staples.com, bestbuy.com.
Call around to local hobby shops in your area, if there are any, too.

Ok, I see that you're in Australia correct, European dealers might be closer than USA for you, although, China looks closer to you, too. ;-)

Happy Phantom hunting...

Steve .. DJI don't let their retailers sell for less than RRP so if you are seeing the P3Pro advertised for $500, it's a fake ad. Same goes for $1259.
You'll see the $A prices here:
http://store.dji.com/ and all dealers prices will be around those.

Here are a couple of legit Aussie dealers I've had on-line dealings with:
https://www.i-drone.com.au/
http://www.wickedcopters.com.au/
http://www.riseabove.com.au/

There will be others as well if you look around.

Thanks - Red Hot. Is there any dealers in China - because when i do into DJI's site not one Chinese dealer - i wrote to them asking the same question and no response. I have searched the net and can't see any reference to fakes - so does that mean there isn't any

Thanks - there is a lot of stores online here in Australia selling them - no issue in finding them, but because I live in NT I can get products delivered from China quicker and cheaper then from any state in Australia - sounds crazy i know but thats just how it is - seriously the above link - suggests i can get 1 to my door for well under $1000 AUD cheapest in Australia well $1950 - crazy right.

Steve,
Knock yourself out!!

This must be the Mother Load of Australian Hobby outlets... ;-)

Have fun... Hahaha

Yes, crazy, but we paid $1650 Canadian, so not much difference.
The CAN dollar value is why...
Atleast you know there are options... ;-)

not sure - but you didn't write a response - or it didn't come through

Sorry Steve .. I got a QUOTE mark in the wrong spot.

Yeh i will just grab one and see how we go. At least if i purchase through Aliaba you don't release the funds until after you receive the product.

I will send the serial number to DJI to ensure i have warranty - if they accept the warranty then i will release the payment.

Probably all i can do.

Since the Pro goes for US$1K it's unlikely that you can pick one up for less than A$1K. That sounds like it belongs in the if it sounds too good to be true category.

Also be prepared to get hit for extra charges from Customs if you import one.

Thanks - there is a lot of price variance even among Aussie dealers - and your right customs and
duty apply to purchase over $1000 - i buy heaps of stuff through Alibaba out of China most of the ones over there that i know are big dealers have them around $1000 USD - so once you get them here around $1500 - a long way from $500 - $750.

Still a big saving anyway i will just keep on email suppliers until i find one thats an authorised reseller

Imagine that... a Chinese knock-off of a phantom.... be careful out there folks! :).... or perhaps an American knock-off of a phantom... even more craziness!!!!

Hey Steve, Welcome to the party, now listen to Meta4. For cripes sake, he lives down there with you and is a highly respected Moderator on our forum.

If you're not going to follow his suggestions, please take video of what you get so we can have a chuckle at you expense. That being said, you'll probably buy one from some unknown and it will be cheaper and probably come with 2 extra batteries. I can fit both my feet in my mouth.

Enjoy the show, and start studying.:D
