Re: Phantom Pilots of Los Angeles

Can't send PMs yet but I'm in Santa Monica and fly at some of the parks around here. I'll shoot you some contact info when I get my PMs sorted.

I am in Orange County.
The OC is welcome.

I'm thinking more of a flying group that gets together 1 or 2 times per month to chat, buy, sell and fly

Hahaha hows about Phantom Pilots of SoCal?

Thinking of a meetup this weekend on Sunday if anyone is interested.

I pretty much fly everyday but would love to get together with others to fly.

There are plenty of SAFE places near my area ranging from Parks, Schools to an actual RC Airfield (San Fernando Valley)

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Re: Phantom Pilots of Los Angeles

Wow i have heard from 3 or 4 pilots already so the plan for this week is

La Brea Tar Pits / Los Angeles County Museum of Art
5905 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90036
Sunday Aug 11, 2013 11:00am - 2:00pm

This is a great place to fly (Before it get's crowded) , but there are very wide open spaces along with architechtual gems for close up's and not to forget the actual tar pits with real live excavations with prehistoric findings still being discovered to this day .

Check out this video i made flying there last week.

Re: Phantom Pilots of Los Angeles

I will be setting something up likely for the weekend after Labor Day Weekend. I have been thinking about a good safe location thats kinda in the middle of all of us and i think we will do a meet up at Exposition Park located right across the street from the campus of USC.

There are many many different types of things to video and lots of wide open space to fly. Check out the link and the embedded video of the grounds.

The other place i was thinking of would be "Burton Chase Park" in the Marina Del Rey. Check out the vid's and we will decide based on collective interest.

Hey Brad - Yeah that footage you got over the stadium there is still stuck in my mind because i was so jealous when i saw it...because i wanted to shoot it first...waaa waaa lol

But if you look at Exposition park there is so so much to film there with the Phantom. They have one of the most beautiful Rose Gardens in California, They now have the Space Shuttle Endeavor now that is totally Phantom filmable...just think about that being able to shoot the shuttle.

Not to mention it was LA's own version of an "Olympic Park" in 1984 when i was wee tall i went there to see some of the events. There is Olympic diving pool that was built for the Olympics and barely used since.

There is also the sports arena there where the CLippers used to play..i think they should go back....lol

Well anyhow it will be great to see you again and i will firm up the plans this weekend. I want to make sure there are no "issues" with us flying there as i have never done it and with one Phantom in the sky is cool but 4 or 5 becomes a worry to others who dont understand.

Newbie but just searched this one out. Resurrection!!

@FredMurtz: what part of the IE? I could use some pointers!! I'll buy lunch!

@ChuckMRN: always down for some jeep' also. However, not in high desert til winter.
