Headed that way this weekend and wondered if its possible to fly and take some shots of the battlefield and such. Anyone have any experience in Gettysburg or with the National Park Service there?
Yeah, so I had an email exchange with the Chief Ranger who informed me that flying remote aircraft was not allowed in the park. The film that you linked to was done with permission after the filming company requested and received a permit from the NPS as well as paid for the time of a ranger to supervise the shoot.
Probably safer you went that route but bummer it did not get you the result you were after. Gettysburg is a tougher animal because so many places there have lots of human interaction and exposure to others. At a more expansive nature driven park I would take the route of forgiveness over permission!
On a side note, I know Brainfarm just did some shooting over Grand Prismatic Spring @ Yellowstone last week.
