Phantom 3 Standard Range Issue is a Common Problem

That does sound familiar to me.. I thought I was the only one with distance issues. I haven't even made it the 1000 meters it says we can take it. I lose signal and it does it's own RTH. I just ordered the ARGTek mod.. I hope that increases my distance or I just plan to sell it...

Iv noticed if im inside my house , in the same room as my wifi router, then I cannot connect my phone to the RC/ Phantom , even if they are touching each other, with both in hand I can walk from that room to the next and instantly it connects, move closer to the wifi router again, and it disconnects, note, that iv told my phone to forget my home wifi, so its primary thing to connect to is the phantom, but the signal from the router appears to be causing the connection to break, I dont know exactly how wifi signals work, but i dont like this effect, this maybe is what is happening outside aswell with the neighbours routers etc, breaking the connection on the phantom rather than it being the distance from the phantom to me that breaks the connection

I have flown my at the beach and up the mountains so, there is no interference there and I lose signal and video.. I just wait for it to return on it's own.. Hopefully, the mod I get will help.. But the flights I have gone on have been pretty spectacular.. I've been out to the missions, the beach, up in the mountains and in my neighborhood..I almost wish I would have waited till the prices dropped lime the stock market.. Anyway, I am supposed to get my mod, today... Will let you know how it goes..

I lost signal on my standard 80 meters out the other month, it returned to home.

I was flying 100 feet over some green and tree's.

Poor signal on the standard if I'm honest, I do think these weak rc signal messages I keep having, sometimes before take off are due to the latest firmware or app update in December.

DJI should be looking into this and release a new firmware for the standard asap.

Sounds like there are a few of us with the same problem. I wondering if DJI didn't really look out for the standard as much as the Advance and Pro..

If you got an android device, look at the free app..
"Wifi Analyzer" it is by "farproc"

I use that just looking at what channels are less cluttered at home and work. I have 4 wifi routers at home all on different channels.

Not really related but on both android and ios a app called fing is very handy to see what is connected to your network system.

I am also experiencing very poor range both before and after mods.

Has anyone ever checked the continuity of the 2.4g sockets inside the transmitter? I recently installed the DBS Itelite antenna mod to my transmitter and after removing the stock connectors from the wifi board I used a multimeter to check the continuity of the sockets. Both of the sockets on the transmitters wifi board are showing continuity between the center post and the outer ring. This doesn't seem correct to me. Just for reference, I also tested the bottom 5.8g socket and it does not show any continuity. Is it possible the poor range I am experiencing is due to faulty factory solder connections which are shorting out the wifi antennas?

I haven't seen in comments on continuity, that would be something to look into. Was there a value or just like 0 (Dead Short)?

I did a search for this issue on the DJI portal but nothing cropped up. The only issue I have had is heavy interference and I lost video signal one day, but I was flying quite low.

And just an FYI, I am very impressed with this forum compared to the DJI sponsored one.

Could this be a common problem in P3s , is there a way to check this without the specialised equipment.

Ohm meter is not that special (Church Lady SNL).
You would have to remove the connector inside the remote with funky glue on it make the test.

My brother also has a P3S and checked his connectors. One connector (the top one) had continuity and the the other(lower 2.4g connector) did not. This is what leads me to believe there is some manufacturing issue with the wifi modules in the transmitter.

Test the ohms across the cable leading to the antenna, center pin to shield. If you have to use a high scale on the meter it can get a reading from you, so don't be touching both test leads. I can try it on Phantom 2, remote after work if I get time.
