Phantom 3 advanced, gopro, editing?

I'm thinking about purchasing a Phantom 3 Advanced but I'm wondering if I should get a gopro with a phantom 3 drone. What are the differences in cameras and which p3 is compatible with the gopro? Will I be able to do more or less with the gopro? Also, which editing software for beginners and is it better to own a mac to do the editing? I have an iphone and ipad for the remote.

Would love to hear any other suggestions you might have. I will be purchasing from B&H to get the squaretrade insurance. Looking into ANA insurance as well.

P3 only has a built in camera. No GoPro option. The P2 supports the GoPro.
