For me it definitely works. Tested this weeked in urban area I got 32% more than without windsurfer.
Make it on my own by this tutorial

An omni-directional antenna on a hand-held controller is really very silly when you think about it. Anything you can do to direct more signal forward and less signal back would be an improvement.

It makes sense if I fly it around in short distance and I don't want to keep pointing the RC to the drone
