Phantom 2 help

Hi everyone am new here,can anyone help please after my first phantom 1 created a problem and crashed I decided to get the phantom 2 so can anyone tell me please how I no if I am connected to any satellites as cannot see any flashing red lights and second should I update the firmware and if so how on an mac thanks

You should see flashing red lights 3 times when you start it up.

For mac, you can download the mac software from the dji website.
