Just got the phantom 2 with fpv and DJI Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal. Oem stock white controler. Drone fly's perfect. Except every flight or other flight all the sudden it will just go down with no controls. Drone goes down straight no crash or wobble. touches the ground maybe bounces and controls come back and goes back up. Sometimes you get the control back before it hit the ground and you can bring it back up.

any ideas suggestion? the company the we bought it from say they have never heard of this problem. They said to try the advanced calibration on the computer, which we have never done before assuming the company did it when they set everything up.We do the 360 calibration every time with no error lights. We have flown it about 10 times and really want to take it over water but can't unit the problem is fixed. almost every time or every other time it does it once per flight. Still have to try the advanced calibration. Hoping it will work. Could it be some WiFi signal interference?

Does anyone have any suggestion? or experienced the same problem?

i just added a 3 axis gimbal to my P2, was using a 2 axis one, so added a lot of weight too, got two falls on test flights,
the phantom was no able to maintain hover, always coming down and entering VRS, I solved it increasing Vertical Gain from 120 to 220,
maybe this could help you too, try 20-30 points increase at a time, until it hovers fine. I also did IMU, Compass, RC and Assistant calibration.
Hope this help.

Ours hovers fine with gimabal never had any issue. But good to know for the future thanks. I also did all the calibration. I think that may have helped.

Sounds like you're initiating auto-land. Check and make sure intelligent mode is turned off in the assistant software. If it's on and you hold the throttle down below 10% for a few seconds it will initiate the auto-land feature.

I to am aware from reading that the way to shut down the props on landing is to hold the throttle fully down....... but surely this isn't when descending is it? seems bonkers if it is. If you were way up high you'd have to come down in 3 second bursts?

I can't prove it with a citation but I know I've held the throttle full down plenty of times during flight and it hasn't just turned off the motors. I thought that was only supposed to happen when the Phantom detected it was no longer descending i.e. it has touched down. THEN full throttle down will turn off the props.

I need to look into this intelligent mode / auto land as I've never heard of it or had it happen to me before... is that new in 3.04 or only in Naza mode or something?

anyway pilsbury to answer your last question just don't hold the throttle FULL down. you can continually descend, just don't hold the stick all the way down

I agree i think it will only turn off if it knows its on the ground. When you land the motor only slowly spin then it takes about 5 seconds of holding down and motors turn off..

exactly, or when you catch it. A lot of people around here prefer to catch the Phantom as we believe it's safer than landing as long as you're cautious. When I catch my Phantom, the props spin up briefly as it tries to hover but I'm also holding the throttle full down, it realizes it's not descending, and the props spin down

As above, learnt from the start to catch it and turn the throttle down.

What this guy is talking about is NOT VRS also you cant turn the motors off in air on decent without going into manual mode. GPS mode wont let you. You wont fall out of the air full throttle down in GPS mode. It detects motion and decent. cant do it.. lots of people really should look up what VRS is and learn how to recover from it but this is not VRS

nothing in life is certain but it sure sounds like you're describing a VRS. even if you can't get to the firmware update, fly around and make sure any time you descend you maintain some lateral movement don't descend straight down from a hover. I suspect it won't drop out of the sky unexpectedly :)

actually it doesnt sound like VRS at all, VRS is not stable on decent at all, it wobbles all over the place and without pilot input of side stick and absolutely no Throttle is the way to recover from VRS this is not VRS this sounds like control problems, firmware, pilot error, or something else.

If he has VIDEO of the small crashes and descents that would help as its VERY obvious once in VRS.

And yes NEVER EVER go straight down (fast) always have forward momentum watch youtube viddeos of helicopters landing they never come in from straight above. they always move froward on landing.

yea at the time it sounded like it the way he described it "falling out of the sky" but upon more details we figured out that's not what it was, especially since he would up being on 3.04

I don't know if we ever figured out exactly what it was, but he hasn't been back saying it's still happening so hopefully he's all good

hey im back still doing the same this happened again today

any updates on this happened again today... starting to think it maybe a battery issue or wifi phone interferance

I just did a firmware update... it seemed to fly a less stable after maybe wind related

flew for about 10 min no problems all over the place. then lowered it down to about house level went down super slow with lateral movement. noticed it start to come down by itself props still spinning let off the up and down and tried to fly lateral to fly out of it still kept going down finally hit the ground gimble flew off and it flew to the side into a bush.

it seems like everytime it hits the ground bounces once then you regain control.

any suggestion firmware downgrade calibration cleaning interferance phone wifi ect. could this be battery related.

i have been really carefull going down slow lateral this hasen't happened in about a year. tried to fly out of it lateral ( someone said it maybe getting caught in it own wind
