Im fairly new to flying drones especially the DJI Phantom 2. Today i took it to a field do get used to flying it however I can reach roughly 20 feet before the drone falls to the ground. The battery was fully charged and had no warning lights at all about any errors. I have also done all updates required as well as calibration.

    Does anyone have any advice?

Hard to figure without the iosd telemetry. You possibly may have a battery issue

A better question is was the craft a new or used purchase. You should spend some time checking those batteries if they are used before and after charging even with new batteries.
