I have a phantom 1 that had upgraded motors. After about 30 flights I had one of those motors getting sticky to the point I was lucky to get it back in one piece. I bought a new set of the upgraded motors and replaced all 4 myself. Finding the motors spliced in, I removed all of the excess wire and solder and trimmed the motor wires to fit and soldered them in myself. No need for that extra weight or ugly mess. I will have to look what motors I got in the morning. It's midnight thirty and the wife is asleep and my P1 kit is on a dark shelf.
