Has anyone painted their rotor blades and does it cause any ill effects from the additional weight on the blade?

I'm thinking of painting the right blades green and the left blades red to aid in determining orientation at a distance. I have a hard time seeing the flashing red light or standard markings

Dye them. Do a search here. Lots of info.

Because they are spinning and the actual area of the blade is a tiny percentage of the total area of the circle the blades describe, you won't be able to see them at all when more than a few dozen feet away. No point in it other than aesthetics.

It'll definitely add extra weight and they will most likely have to be balanced after painting them. The extra weight might also cause your Phantom to fly erratically and/or crash.

Dying the props with Rit dye would be a much safer option. You can find more details on how to dye your props here.
