With the P3 it was well recommended to do a Cold IMU calibration as it helps with start up times. Is the still true with the P4P or is it not relevant with the newer models?

Cheers

Yes, it's still best to do the IMU calibration after the Phantom has been sitting in a cool environment.

Could you suggest a good temperature for IMU calibration? In other words, could you define the "cool" environment?

In many locations around the world, it's colder at night. If that's the case for you too, then you could sit your Phantom outside for 15 minutes before starting the IMU calibration. If it's cold outside during the day (like where I am in PA right now), then you could sit it outside during the day. Whatever the case, the chosen environment should be colder than the temperature of the environment where you normally fly.

Thank you, however, a guidance would be beneficial. How much difference in temperature should be between flying environment and cold IMU calibration (in numbers)?

Like a car, your IMU warms up when it is powered. As it warms up, it's readings change. Calibration records these changes and uses them during flight.

If you power up and the IMU is colder than the coldest recorded calibration data, you need to wait for it to come into range. So best to have your Phantom settled to the lowest temp you intend to fly in before conducting the IMU calibration.
