Forgive my ignorance. This is my first drone. Just began the registration and firmware process when I noticed a "buzzing" noise from the drone. Can't really feel any vibration. Just want to make sure this is normal. It's more than just a hum.

I guess you're referring to the gimbal? If so, it'll never be silent while your Phantom is running. If you'd like us to confirm the sound is normal, then please upload a video so we can hear what you're describing.

Welcome aboard 4590flyer - you have arrived at the only forum you will need when it comes to your Phantom, flying, filming, understanding, repairs - and knowledge for pretty well everything you will ever need. This forum and this site DJI Phantom Accessories & Tips - Phantom Help a few YouTube videos - read your manual front to back and you're all good!

Sounds like maybe the gimbal - if it's a low level noise it is probably just the normal sound it makes when turned on - if it is quite audible could be the cooling fan for the gimbal or a looseness - however, you did state no vibration.

EDIT: Oops I just noticed it is a P4 - also as msinger states it may be just the normal gimbal sound especially since you don't feel any vibration.

The P4P has no grub screw.

Thanks for the correction - I just noticed it was a P4 in the post title and did an edit to remove the video - probably as you say the normal sound.

Yeah, that's just the gimbal and its fan. Fortunately, there is no microphone in the Phantom, so it won't affect your videos. It will keep the gimbal from overheating though ;)

Thank you all for your assistance. I didn't want to use it if it had a problem. Forgive my ignorance.....and messy workbench. Too many hobbies and not enough space.

LOL no need for apologies and one can never have enough hobbies. I sometimes look at my workbench and wonder if its even there since the top is covered with hobby parts from everything!

I am of the belief, there are no "experts" only "specialists" in any chosen field - and in the case of flying these...............ignorance is NOT bliss........the more you know/learn the better off you will be!
