Does anyone recommend using an aftermarket battery. Will they work with the 1.8 version, do they have close to the same battery life?

Uh oh... sensitive subject! There's a ton of reading about that here already... just do a quick search and you'll find all the opinions you can handle!

Me, no. Too critical a component for comparatively little savings, but mine is one opinion of many.

You may be lucky, you may not - it's a gamble I wouldn't personally be comfortable with.

None of the big name lipo manufacturers make them, I assume DJI won't licence the rights - so you really have no way of knowing the quality. Lipos are potentially very dangerous items.

Do not gamble with your UAV... Spend a few extra dollars... Fly with peace of mind.
