P3P Firmware Upgrade Question

I bought another P3P and it came with A/C 1.5.3+ and R/C 1.6. From what I've read, I went to A/C 1.8.8 from the DJI site to mate better with 1.6. However, when I did, it showed up as 1.8.8+.
The results file showed:
"Packet: P3X_FW_V01.08.0080.bin
Result: Abort.
The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft."

So my questions are:
What does the "+" mean. I've read it means something on the A/C is at a higher level (battery, camera), if so, how do I get rid of the "+" or does it matter if I fly with a higher level on these items, and
from the error message, is my firmware really 1.8.8 or something higher (which, again from what I've read, I really don't want that).

thanks, Bill

The "+" means you're running a firmware version newer than the listed version.

how do I find out which one it is.
Try reinstalling DJI GO to see if that corrects the version number.

if I load 1.8.8, why does it not overwrite the new version?
You are currently using a version that's newer than 1.8.8. When you try to install an old version or the same version, the firmware install is aborted.

Ok, thanks. the go app tells me i'm at 1.8.8+ which is really something higher. How do I find out what it actually is so if I want to downgrade, I can, or if it is something the boards say is reasonable, I can stay with it. thanks for your patience...

... Or a component has a newer version than what's in the bin update package.
There's a lot file in the hidden misc folder on the SD card that has the update attempt details.
It's probably the battery that has a higher version and that probably won't matter.

I can't seem to find how to identify the module numbers.
Module 03-06 already has newer firmware. Module 19 doesn't appear to be reporting correctly.
Using the debug file method might straighten it out. I think you can force a firmware refresh by holding down the link button for a few seconds right after powering up.

OK, pressed the link button for a couple of seconds and no change. I reformatted the sd via the app (showed a/c 1.5.3+ as when I got it) and reloaded 1.8.8 from the site onto the sd. started it up and it was upgrading for about 1/2 hour. I stopped it and looked at the log file. It looks like everything was going ok and seem to end well. but then it goes into a loop ending with the same error as before. the resulting a/c is still 1.8.8+. The file is attached. any help is appreciated... Bill

What does the TXT log in the root of your memory card show? Why are you attempting to install 1.8.8?

the log file is attached to the previous post. I have 1.6 on the r/c and had a/c 1.8.8 on a previous p3p with no issues... I like to wait for versions to iron themselves out.. thanks

You cannot install 1.8.8 since you're currently running a version newer than 1.8.8.

When you reloaded DJI GO, did you completely uninstall it first? Or did you just upgrade to the latest version?

I think i uninstalled it. .I"ll redo.. also, sorry, the txt file in the root says "The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft."

Try it again. Make sure you uninstall DJI GO before reinstalling it.

Do you have another mobile device you can use to see if the same thing happens on a different device?
