I've seen a number of threads on firmware update failures to the point where some are afraid to update. I thought I'd share my experience.
I live in an urban area where my flying is limited. A couple of weeks ago I took my P3S out to my sister-in-laws out in the middle of nowhere so I could "open it up and let loose" without worry of hitting the neighbors. Of course the first thing I had to do was calibrate the compass. Each time it failed due to "electromagnetic interferrence" due to high tension lines on the north end of her property..
Yesterday I updated the firmware and today took it out to the sister-in-law's house and the update seems to have fixed the compass calibration error. I was happily able to fly the bird flat out. I stayed away from the electrical lines, no need to tempt fate. The only error/warning I got the whole day was when I was almost 3/4 of a mile out and got a low signal warning.
