Just a note for anyone interested. The P3 Advanced is now in stock at Amazon. http://amzn.to/1dAlWgw

These are actually sold by Amazon.

I preordered mine from Amazon and (finally) took delivery yesterday. Now's a chance to grab one with no wait.

Shows a list price of $1500? How can that be? It's always been listed at $999.

I think that's called Amazon Math. (Jack up price by 50%, then offer a 33% discount! ;))

Amazon engages in fuzzy math, but I've found them to offer great customer service.

I got it Prime from Amazon direct for $999 last night :)
It'll be here Monday.

And I just checked again now, still in stock Amazon direct, Prime $999.

You bought at the right time - it's once again out of stock! Amazon is now saying it'll be June 5 before the next batch arrives.

Keep checking. I watched Amazon's stock go from 20 to 6 then Out of Stock. I kept checking back anyway every half hour of so and magically it showed in stock after a couple hours and I bought one. It didn't show a number available but just said in stock. Note the deal with the extra battery was never in stock and I don't think that will be again. There's a rumor that deal will be discontinued by DJi.

Alert, in stock again, hurry!

Doh, Amazon link was changed to a 3rd party, sorry, in stock but @ $1,050.

I don't see why anyone would want to buy this type of product directly from a retail giant such as Amazon. I personally always buy higher priced items from a place where I can build a relationship and rely on someone in the event I need some support.

If something were to go wrong with your unit you purchase from Amazon do you pick up the phone and immediately talk with someone who is extremely experienced in drones? I highly doubt it...

My two cents would be to stay away from the Amazons, Best Buys and other big retail giants who know nothing about how to provide support for a Phantom. Stick with the UAV specialists, there are plenty of them! I guarantee you there is a well versed DJI dealer within 2 days shipping time from you that will make up for Amazon's free 2-day shipping.

I would love to hear what how others feel about this and I'm sure many others feel the same way...maybe I feel differently since I have had units in the passed that have had issues and have been able to rely on someone for support. Thoughts?

Actually I bought my P3P through Amazon and it was sold by Helidirect (Authorized dealer) So I get to call Helidirect for problems(hopefully none) and Amazon is great at taking things back. (hopefully never)

I don't need support from the reseller. I bought my P3P direct from DJi I will get warranty support from them even if it takes 6 weeks to resolve if I have a issue that requires a return. Buying from Amazon is no different. I'll deal directly with DJi as a result.

In my experience the vast majority of resellers don't know as much as those of us that are hooked into to the various forums and keep up to date on a daily basis on the issues others are experiencing. There are a few resellers that seem to be enthusiasts as but I find that to be the exception not the rule.

There is something to be said for getting better customer service from a reseller that's willing to go the extra mile to make things right if you happen to have an immediate issue but from what I'm reading here and on RC Groups DJi is recommending people contact DJi support direct for warranty issues and not their resellers. This is partly because from what I understand resellers right now aren't trained to service the P3 and also do not have parts. I'm not going to wait months before this flushes out.

To each their own but to me reseller support doesn't add up to much. All I expect from them is to deliver what was ordered in a timely manner and this is what Amazon is very good at. And Amazon's return policy is very generous. You can always return it if its defective and get a replacement.
