P2 uncommanded RTH.

hey all,

My P2 has developed a problem recently. After only about 10 seconds in the air at close range it goes into RTH uncommanded. Getting very annoying. The only fix appears to be to power down then restart. It usually takes 2-3 times to get it to work.

No mods have been done recently, no crashes, nothing has changed!!!

Any ideas?

hey there. Battery is about 18 months old? Could this be the problem?

It just seems there are a lot of posts showing phantoms with unpredictable/unreliable power when the battery gets below 90 percent of the so-called useful life.

So new battery installed and test flew today. It did RTH twice uncommanded where as previously it would be doing it almost constantly. So its an improvement for sure but still very annoying. Also, it appears to only be a problem close in. When I fly out beyond several hundred feet it is fine.

Hi drumbum,
RTH is triggered also by lost of radio signal. If not the battery, then it seems like your receiver has a problem with strong signal at close distance. Check antennae. It might be worth a thought replacing the receiver in the P2. DJI part 31 costs around $10.... (Check exact replacement part inside your P2)... HTH

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

My P2 is actually flying with a Futaba SBus RX so I will crack it open and take a look at what is happening under the hood. Time for a 10000 mile service.

Following this mornings test flight, I flew it on an application this evening and it flew perfectly with no RTH problems.

So my guess is to ditch old batteries earlier than planned.
