Hi guys, as I posted in http://www.phantompilots.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20806 my P1 went for a swim in a lake. I need to get it replaced ASAP.

I have 4 extra batteries and the case for P1, so I'm considering getting another P1, use the submarine P1's upgraded P2 propellers I had bought, buy the new 3 axis gimbal and GoPro and continue enjoying flying.

Or, Get P2, which is more money, still need to get gimbal and GoPro and adding another battery to have will put the price $300+ more than P1.

Is it worth it? I don't have an issue with P1's flight times, 5-10 minutes is perfectly enough for me. Is the flight time the only advantage of P2?

THANKS!

hovig - wow man, that was fast.
I remember just talking to you about it lol

Anyway, I would go for the P2 and sell your batteries (maybe hull) to offset the price a bit

Take a look at it here....

For what your talking about i dont see a huge benefit to upgrading. BUT....for me it would almost be worth going to the P2V to get some of the FPV functions that you end up paying for later anyways.

I ordered this FPV system before crashing the P1, it just arrived, sitting on my desk, waiting to be installed.

wow, low on time.
Since you are in brooklyn, you probably have no choice but to get it from B&H.
They are in stock and if you call to order, all you need to go is get into the city, jump on line and leave the store. You dont have to wade through the crowd.

Yeah, plan is to get everything from BandH at once. I'll probably order to NJ to save on tax.

Here's the math I have done so far:

Option 1

Phantom 1 - $479
Gimbal - $379
I'm not 100%, but I needed this with my P1 - $65
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/9 ... mu_v2.html

$923

Option 2
Phantom 2 & 3D - $959
2nd battery - $129

Total - $1090

~$170 difference.

Does this make sense?

going from experience with my FC40, I have done everything to save a buck.

In the end, you end up spending more for upgrades and what do you have? Something close to a P2 that doesnt have the same battery life and a lot of 3rd party parts ;p

So for "only" a $170 difference, go for the P2.
From what I understand, its RTF - gimbal included.
I think you need the mini osd to get additional readings.

Since you have your FPV system ready, you should be good to go.

grats.

buy some water wings for that baby ;)

I hope that the addition of FPV will calm me down somewhat as I won't have to entertain myself with daredevil moves anymore, but can just concentrate on getting the shot and landing. At the end of the day for me the primary use of these toys is getting video, so need to keep reminding that to myself next time I'm full throttle 6 inches off the water chasing birds... lol

omg, quite the opposite!

You get some FPV going, you will try harder to fly under trees! lol
