I have been flying my Phantom 2 Vision for a while now and really like he flyability of the copter. However, the single axis camera mount totally sucks. Every little bump or maneuver is transferred to the video stream. What are the options for going to a 3 axis system and will it make the video smoother? I really feel that the FPV is essential.

Yes, the Phantom 2 Vision+ has a 3 axis gimbal.

There are some 2 axis gimbals for your vision. They help on smoothing the video (except for yaw).
