    Can this be done?

I know its possible for the P3 to calculate wind and wind direction. This can be done simply by hovering for a few seconds or so. The angle in the gyro would be the rough gustimate for wind. Factoring this in, it could be possible to estimate better RTH warnings. This would be great for novices to who forget about tail/head wind.

If they can calculate wind, I wonder if they can add a battery optimal flight mode. We all max throttle from one place to another and we never realise if it is most efficient for the battery - I don't need to get there in a hurry, I just want to preserve flight times. It would be good if the P3 can calculate the wind and angular velocity and voltage and apply the most appropriate speed to conserve battery. This would be great for longer flight times and could be applied to the first critical battery warning. This will mean the phantom will have a higher sucess of returning.

But maybe DJI has considered this and that the optimal conservation mode maybe negligible in flight times.

From a pure programming point of view, I suspect that there are just too many variables, which includes the human factor, involved for it to be practical.

OPs suggestion to have an ECO mode is welcome.

There are practically two types of pilots: aggressive and non-aggressive. All experienced pilots love to fight with environment conditions and fly to enjoy. Non experienced pilots try to be watchful and would like to have maximum flying time per charge.
