You need to get out over water, rural flat farmland, or an RF clean environment. I tried flying over South Baltimore yesterday with the same P4. I only got 5100' before losing everything. Tried multiple times at altitudes up to 500'. Same result. Not this super-dense city landscape with tons of Wi-Fi & other electrical interference & that's the killer. I am going to have to get one of my P3 controllers modded for better penetration in urban environments.

The photo below was taken from the now abandoned Wal-Mart parking lot at Port Covington in South Baltimore.. The high rises you see off in the distance are 2 miles distant. That was my goal. I made it 5,100' or about half way.

Are you running auto or a manual channel?

I did that because DJI is lame and makes it so you can never rename the aircraft. Figured a name like P4 is good if I ever decide to sell.

Smart Man, Exactly what I do for all my Phantoms. Who would want to buy a Phantom named MonkeyBalls1 or something like that? Or worse a Phantom named after your name, John Williams etc?

Never had the opportunity to try & just curious here. If you were adding a previously registered Phantom to your account for the first time, wouldn't it allow you to name it for YOUR account instead of just using the previous owner's name?

Hmm I am interested to know if Auto VS Manual channel makes any difference.

It definitely does. Auto allows the app to select the best channel while you fly. It will jump around to the best channel while you're flying. If you set it to manual it will stay on that one channel.

You get more channels to choose from in manual mode. There's quieter channels higher up that are only available in manual modd.

Ok and your point? Keeping it in auto allows the app to scan the channels while you're flying and select the best channel or move to a better channel will help flight distance.

Look at my flight posted in this thread. ;)
