Received my replacement 2 days ago. It was indeed an og sheild, new in box. Not bad, less then 2 weeks to receive and absolutely no notification from them.

Yea I just called them today, spoke to someone in Bangladesh, could barely understand him, but I heard "in processing" peppered through his conversation.

Did you root your original one to avoid it being bricked? I'm about to do that, and have two tablets .

Can someone briefly explain the meaning of- "avoid being bricked"

when you get the new shield tablet after filing for the recall issue, Nvidia will send you a new tablet and when you activate that new tablet, they will send a code to your old tablet which will kill the tablet.

Brick it, no longer able to use it, its gone for ever!

Yep I did that first thing. Do not set up wifi until this is done and kill switch is removed.
