going through setup with p4p+, upgraded through dji assistant on my surface pro 4. I had to go through the calibration 4 times, it failed at 90% each of the previous 3 tries. Is this normal?

Getting pretty tired of the controller crashing trying to play back a video. Hopefully future firmware update fixes it.

That depends on where you are and what magnetic influences are around you.
But why are you attempting to recalibrate the compass?
Check the top of p57 in the manual to see what DJI recommend.

The software looked like it was calibrating the various obstacle avoidance cameras not the compass?

I didn't notice it was said what was being calibrated that failed.
Might have missed it?

I believe it was the obstacle avoidance cameras/sensors? I had to point the bird at the screen at different angles and rotate it around while keeping it on an axis to different parts of the screen.
